Fish migration in European rivers. An explorative study of possibilities for fish migration in some major rivers

The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, is preparing a Nature Outlook that will be presented to the European Commission in 2016. One topic of the Outlook investigation is the current situation for fish migration in a selection of large European rivers.

Information on connectivity of rivers and an overview of dams impeding upstream fish migration on an Europe level is not available yet. This study contains a brief description of the connectivity situation for fish migration in a selection of major river basins in Europe. The target of this study is to make an extensive overview of European rivers with free migratory routes for fish.

Kroes Consultancy did the coordination and worked together with Wanningen Water Consult.
